Day 6: Monmouth, anyone?

"I scream at you for caring ... " -- I Wish I Was Your Mother (1973)

As I figure it, at this moment Mott the Hoople are taking the stage at the Blake Theatre in Monmouth, Wales, for their first performance in more than 35 years.

I'm in Dallas, working tonight and ready to fly out tomorrow to attend the shows in London next week.

This blog isn't complete without reports from Monmouth. So if you're following and you attend the show, please comment and let us all know how it went. I'll take as much detail as I can get -- what was played, what was said, who was there and how everyone looked.

Please help. Thanks.

  5. wow - i really thought the set list would have been from the much earlier albums - rather than the glossier hits. surprised.

  6. Yes, I'm surprised at some of the omissions from the early albums, particularly Thunderbuck Ram and No Wheels to Ride. I'm surprised they were off and Golden Age was on. I'm going to guess Ralphs wanted to sing only one song and preferred Ready for Love. There's bound to be changes Saturday if these are truly "warmup" shows. And no Verden compositions at all? Careful, he'll quit the band again!

  7. i am madly in love with mad shadows having discovered the fist four LPs all over again. I think i was hoping it would be culled alot from MS & Brain capers and less from the stuff that drove them apart....
