  1. Glorious, the best night, of course it was the best night. Set list the same, snippets of Like A Rolling Stone, Knocking on Heaven's Door & Irene Wilde, which caused a confused look from Mick & Ian explained to him "it's one of mine". Ian used the "come back tomorrow night" line during Keep A Knockin' to say there would be another time, but then said Overend was undecided. Presumably Buff would be unable to fulfil new commitments, so that would leave Ian, Mick & Verden trading as Mott the Hoople, now, IMHO, that really is simply a pension top-up, but hey who are we to judge, it has been a fantastic week and a half, one that I never dreamt in my wildest dreams would happen. Special mention to Joe Elliott & The Quireboys, wish they'd supported every night. They were fantastic, covering Ian (Who Do You Love, England Rocks, Overnight Angels, Golden Opportunity), Mott (By Tonight, Career, Shouting & Pointing, Good Times) & British Lions (One More Chance To Run). Morgan was at the front next to me during the last song and seemed desperate to get on stage to join in Good Times, but it was sadly not to be. Great to meet you John. Now back to reality, all the best, Toni

  2. A great night - a great show. The atmosphere was electric. Brian May & Roger Taylor from Queen were there and Ian intro'd them up on stage for backing vox on Dudes, but no show - Ian joked they must have gone home and Pete just said 'we don't need 'em - let's get on with it'.
Ian took the piss out of Mick saying he could only sing one song as he'd ' drunk 15 breweries and screwed up his voice'. Mick responded by flipping the finger at Ian, who then conceded 'here's a song that Mick wrote that sold a million'.
We had big lumps in our throats when Buffin came on, again helped by Martin, who watched over him throughout. Very emotional.
Was lucky to be at the aftershow and chatted with them all. Felt very surreal to be chatting with my heroes from over 35 years ago. All said they were absolutely knackered and that for them the Monday night felt best. On stage Ian said he was really worn out and that the last couple of weeks had taken their toll on him.
As Ian had said onstage earlier, Pete told us he is indeed very undecided about doing more.
Martin Chambers said that when he plays with the Pretenders, they occasionally 'go up to 11'. But with MTH they 'start at 11 and stay there'.
Also met Blue Weaver and Morgan Fisher. Told Morgan he had to get the dvd out.
The only negative I had was that I would have liked to have seen Morgan, Blue & Luther be given an opportunity to at least join them for a couple of numbers - especially the later pop hits that they were such a big part of. I certainly didn't want to see Joe Elliot get up with them on 'Dudes again. It wasn't his gig - he was just a fan and he's jot part of their history. Although it was quite funny when he came on with one of Pete's old knee-high platform sole boots above his head.
A fantastic and highly emotional night. Just how rock gigs used to be and still should be. My ears are ringing and my back is killing me from all the standing but wouldn't have missed it for anything. Feels like they and we have come full circle and now the circle is closed. Although, in my opinion, I do think that once they recover from these gigs and remember the sheer love and affection for them, they'll probably do it one more time, probably in US.

  3. PS - forgot to say - Bob Rock the producer was there at the aftershow having his pic taken with Ian. Wanted to tell him how hilarious we thought he was in Metallica's 'real Spinal Tap' film Some Kind Of Monster, but thought better of it, as he might not get the joke.
